Allied Telesis Launches Advanced Layer 3 Stackable Switch with Power over Ethernet Capabilities
SAN JOSE, Calif., December 17, 2009 – Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet switching solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple-Play networks, has launched the AT-x600-24Ts-POE, the latest member of the x600-series of stackable Gigabit switches, and the first product in this family to offer Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities. By introducing this product to the U.S. market, Allied Telesis offers investment protection enhanced by advanced security features, port scalability, resiliency for uninterrupted network service, high speed quality of service (QoS), and simplified network administration.
The AT-x600-24Ts-POE combines advanced Layer 3 switching functionalities with PoE. This feature-set gives enterprises added flexibility to connect PoE-powered devices enabling the secure transfer of power and data to remote devices such as IP phones, security cameras, and wireless access points. By providing Gigabit PoE at an affordable price point, the switch makes it easy for network managers to cost-effectively cater to next year’s applications.
The AT-x600-24Ts-POE benefits enterprises that require a “true” stacking architecture for scalability, simplified network management, and high-speed connectivity between switches, resulting in a faster network without modification of existing Ethernet cabling infrastructure. The AT-x600-24Ts-POE switch is particularly suited to power VoIP phone systems because when connected to a universal power supply (UPS) it will provide power even during a grid power cut, enabling both routine and emergency calls. The integration of a standards-compatible command line interface (CLI) ensures the product is easy to manage and can be used seamlessly in networks with equipment from a variety of vendors.
“This is the first switch in the popular x600 family to be PoE capable, allowing us to bring a new dimension of functionality to a highly effective switch family,” said Dael Bartlett, director of product marketing, Allied Telesis. “By combining full PoE delivery and Gigabit Ethernet speeds, we are offering network managers a sound choice for their next-generation convergence.”
The AT-x600-24Ts-POE has 24 10/100/1000T ports and four combination Gigabit small form-factor pluggable (SFP) ports with dedicated stacking ports. It has full power PoE (802.3af) capabilities on all copper ports, LLDP-MED (Link Layer Discovery Protocol – Media Endpoint Discovery) support, ensuring auto discovery of devices, and a redundant power supply option, allowing the switch to continue operating even in the event of a power supply failure.
The AT-x600-24Ts-POE is currently available from Allied Telesis and priced at $3,999.
